In the Eco-Mobility project structures directly related to increasing mobility of people with impaired physical abilities. Relaying on long-standing experience acquired during cooperation of prof. W. Choromański’s team from Warsaw University of Technology with Medical University of Warsaw, medical structures are developed.

 

The issue of treatment various trauma of motor organs caused by traffic accidents is the basis for research in this task. In the project work regarding assistive technologies in bone fracture treatment is carried out: stabilizers for treatment of knee joint, ankle joint, elbow joint and wrist as well as stabilizer for long bones. These are innovative solutions that allow implementing the idea of functional treatment. This way of fracture treatment significantly decreases the time of treatment and rehabilitation. In the joint stabilizers mechatronic systems with magnetorheological fluid is used. This allowed to control remotely the rehabilitation process of the patient.


In the project modifications of already existing stabilizers was proposed. All these structures form a modular system for functional treatment. The design process of all stabilizers was preceded by computer aided modeling and simulation. For the stabilizers of joints: knee, elbow and ankle, a prototype of load generating module was created. The base idea for this module is a gear pump working together with magnetorheorogical fluid damping system. A series of tests with use of these innovative solutions was carried out.

 

Also, works regarding designing the first polish endoprosthesis of hip-joint – FENIKS – were carried out. Research carried out in the project was relaying on former works of project’s designers team, that was successfully implemented. In “Eco-Mobility” a series of types of endoprosthesis was created which combined the positive features of both cement-endoprosthesis and cementless-endoprosthesis. During implantation, holes in endoprosthesis are partially filled with osteoinductive cements. The method of filling them is a vital issue. First tests in this field were carried out.
